Best Oura Ring Alternatives (2026): Price, Accuracy, No Subscription

Oura’s ring is only part of Oura’s price. Oura Ring 5 starts at $399, and the Oura Membership costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US, with one month included for new members.12 Without it, Oura says, “you’ll only be able to see your three daily Oura scores (Readiness, Activity, and Sleep), ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, and the Explore content.”2

Oura’s competitors in November 2026 fall into four groups. There are rings you buy once: Samsung Galaxy Ring, Circular Ring 2 and Ultrahuman Ring PRO.345 There are screenless bands: Fitbit Air, Amazfit Helio Strap, Garmin Cirqa and Polar Loop.6789 There are watches with their own readiness score, led by Apple Watch Series 12.10 And there is a sleep-only armband, the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor.11

We make SensAI, an AI coaching app that reads Apple Health. It is not a ring and isn’t ranked below. The picks follow one rule: three-year required cost (device price plus any required subscription for three years), lowest first, with rings first and non-ring trackers second. Every price below was checked on the maker’s US page on 3 November 2026.

What is the best Oura Ring alternative in 2026?

The best Oura Ring alternatives in 2026 are Galaxy Ring ($299.99) for Samsung Galaxy phone owners, Circular Ring 2 ($349) on iPhone or Android, and Ultrahuman Ring PRO ($479) for battery life, and none lists a required subscription. Fitbit Air and Amazfit Helio Strap ($99.99 each) are the cheapest non-ring picks. Oura itself costs $399 plus $69.99 a year.3456712

US prices from each maker’s store, product page or press release, checked 3 November 2026, before tax. ”—” means the maker’s pages we checked don’t state it. Order: three-year required cost, lowest first, rings then non-ring trackers.

Three names are missing from that table on purpose.

  • RingConn. RingConn holds a patent licence from Oura and is licensed to sell in the US.21 But its store would not load for us on 3 November 2026, so we list no RingConn price, battery or spec.
  • Ultrahuman Ring AIR. It is not sold in the US. Ultrahuman’s US Ring AIR buy page returns “Page not found”, after an August 2025 ITC determination in Oura’s patent case.522
  • Amazfit Helio Ring. It is no longer on Amazfit’s US store; the product page shows Amazfit’s 404 page.23

How do Oura alternatives compare on price, battery and features?

Ultrahuman Ring PRO lasts up to 15 days, Oura Ring 5 six to nine days, and Galaxy Ring and Circular Ring 2 up to 7 days. Screenless bands last 7 to 10 days, WHOOP up to 14. Apple Watch lasts up to 18–24 hours. Only Oura and WHOOP require a subscription; Fitbit, Garmin and Ultrahuman sell optional ones.52434157892526220617

Maker pages and press releases, checked 3 November 2026. ”—” means not stated; “Not verified” means the store would not load. Last column: studies cited on this page only.

Three differences the table hides:

  • Fit. Oura Ring 5 comes in sizes 6–13 and fits differently from Ring 4 (4 to 15).29 Galaxy Ring runs 5 to 15 and Ultrahuman Ring PRO 5–14.305 Oura asks you to wear its free sizing ring “for at least 24 hours, including while sleeping”.24
  • Bulk. Ring 5 is “40% smaller than Oura Ring 4”, 2.28 mm thick and from 2 grams.3124 Ring PRO is 2.65 mm thick and 3.3–4.8 g.5
  • Extras. Circular Ring 2 adds a 40-second single-lead ECG.4 Oura sells a Ring 5 Charging Case separately, good for “up to one month of battery”.31

Is Oura worth it, or is a ring without a subscription cheaper?

Over three years, Oura Ring 5 costs $608.97 with the annual membership: $399 for the ring and $209.97 in fees. Galaxy Ring ($299.99), Circular Ring 2 ($349) and Ultrahuman Ring PRO ($479) cost less, with no required subscription. Oura is worth it if you will use what the membership unlocks and value its research record.12345

Think of Oura as a purchase plus a utility bill. A no-subscription ring is the purchase alone.

Which Oura alternatives are cheaper than Oura over three years?

Every no-subscription pick is cheaper than Oura over three years. Fitbit Air and Amazfit Helio Strap cost $99.99, Garmin Cirqa and Polar Loop $199.99, Galaxy Ring $299.99, Circular Ring 2 $349 and Ultrahuman Ring PRO $479, against $608.97 for Oura Ring 5 and $558.97 for Ring 4. WHOOP costs $597 to $1,077.67893451220

Computed from US prices checked 3 November 2026: device price plus required subscription for three years. Excludes tax, chargers, protection plans, shipping, trade-ins and optional subscriptions unless marked. Oura’s first month is included for new members, so the annual plan bills three times within 36 months.2

Against Oura Ring 5 at $608.97, Ultrahuman Ring PRO saves $129.97 over three years, Circular Ring 2 saves $259.97 and Galaxy Ring saves $308.98.12543

Put another way, three years of membership ($209.97) adds 52.6% to the $399 ring.12 That is the real gap between Oura and a ring you buy once.

HSA and FSA funds work for most Oura store items and the membership.33 Circular, Ultrahuman, the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor and the Helio Strap are also listed as HSA/FSA eligible.45167

What do you lose without an Oura membership?

Without a membership, Oura says “you’ll only be able to see your three daily Oura scores (Readiness, Activity, and Sleep), ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, and the Explore content.” You also lose the Oura API and, on Gen3 rings and later, Apple Health sharing. Your data stays saved and exportable as CSV.213

Oura’s support page lists what the membership includes:2

  • Detailed sleep analysis
  • 24/7 heart rate tracking
  • Third-party integrations like Strava
  • Advanced temperature monitoring
  • Blood Oxygen Sensing (SpO2)
  • Daytime Stress and Resilience
  • Dynamic activity goals
  • Heart Health: Cardiovascular Age and Cardio Capacity (VO2 Max)
  • Metabolic Health: Glucose Tracking and Meals
  • Oura Labs
  • Weekly to anniversary reports
  • Women’s Health: Cycle Insights and Pregnancy Insights

Oura’s newest software sits behind the membership too. Health Radar, “personalized AI-enabled medical guidance provided in partnership with Counsel Health”, and GLP-1 Insights are for “Oura Members with Oura Ring Gen3 and newer models”.31

Before you cancel:

  • Your data stays and can be exported “in CSV format through the Membership Hub”.2
  • No pause, no lifetime plan. “There is no option to ‘pause’ an Oura Membership.”2
  • Apple Health and Health Connect stop on Gen3 rings and later, which need “active membership”.1314
  • Gen2 is the exception. “Gen2 users do not require an Oura Membership.”2

So Oura without a membership is a three-number ring.

Is the Oura Ring 4 sale a cheaper way into Oura?

Yes, by $50 over three years. Oura Ring 4 starts at $349, with Stealth marked down from $399 and Gold from $499, so three years with the membership costs $558.97 against $608.97 for Ring 5. You still pay the same $69.99 a year, and Ring 4 has independent HRV validation that Ring 5 does not.127228

Which smart rings have no subscription?

The best smart rings like Oura without a subscription are Samsung Galaxy Ring ($299.99, Galaxy phones only), Circular Ring 2 ($349, iOS and Android) and Ultrahuman Ring PRO ($479). Oura is the ring that needs a membership for its full app. Ultrahuman sells an optional add-on, Ultrahuman Max, from $29.97. We could not check RingConn’s store.334452

Ultrahuman’s add-on is real money if you keep it. Max adds “Snoring & breathing insights” and “Cycle & ovulation insights”, among others.5 Kept three years, it takes Ring PRO to $778.97, more than Oura Ring 5.

Which Oura alternatives can you buy in the US, and what about the patent cases?

In the US you can buy Galaxy Ring ($299.99), Circular Ring 2 ($349) and Ultrahuman Ring PRO ($479) today. Ultrahuman Ring AIR is excluded after an August 2025 ITC determination. RingConn and Circular settled with Oura. Oura sued Ultrahuman again over Ring PRO in October 2026, and Samsung and Amazfit’s parent face a second ITC case.34522213536

Sources: Federal Register notices, Oura, TechCrunch and Bloomberg Law. Neither of the two later ITC cases has a decision we could confirm, so we give no decision date.

How it unfolded:

  • 2024–2025, first ITC case. The case against Ultrahuman, RingConn and Circular ended for Circular on settlement in July 2024. In August 2025 the Commission found a violation of Oura’s patent 11,868,178.22 Oura said the orders were “effectively banning the import and sale of Ultrahuman smart rings in the U.S.”37
  • Late 2025, RingConn licence. Oura granted RingConn “a multi-year license … with RingConn making royalty payments to ŌURA”, and the ITC dropped RingConn from the orders in December.3721
  • March 2026, Ring PRO. US Customs approved Ultrahuman’s redesign; Oura said the decision was “not a final or comprehensive ruling”.38
  • October 2026, new suit. Oura sued in the Eastern District of Texas, asserting “additional patents, including design and utility patents”.39 Bloomberg Law named them as D804,471 and 12,769,363.40 Oura seeks damages and a permanent injunction. Ultrahuman CEO Mohit Kumar: “There is no court order affecting Ring Pro, and it remains available to customers in the U.S.”35
  • The second front. Oura’s second ITC complaint, filed in November 2025, names Samsung, Zepp Health, Reebok and Nexxbase (Noise and LunaZone).36 Samsung filed its own ITC complaint against Oura in December 2025.41

What this means for you: Galaxy Ring, Circular Ring 2 and Ultrahuman Ring PRO were all on sale on their makers’ US sites on 3 November 2026.345 The open question is whether that lasts, which matters for replacements and warranty swaps. We are not lawyers, and none of the open cases had a ruling we could confirm.

Which ring is most accurate for sleep and HRV?

Oura has the most peer-reviewed validation of any ring, but much of it is Oura-funded or Oura-affiliated. Independent studies give a range, not one number: overnight HRV error of 5.96–7.15% against ECG in one study, but four-stage sleep accuracy of 53.18% in sleep-lab patients. None of the rival rings sold here has independent sleep or HRV validation on PubMed.2842

Overnight heart rate is the easy test for a ring. Sleep stages and daytime heart rate are the hard ones.

PSG = polysomnography, the lab sleep test. CCC: 1.0 is perfect agreement. MAPE and MAE are average error. Funding and conflicts from each PubMed record.

The pattern: the most flattering numbers come from healthy adults in controlled settings, and several of those studies were paid for or co-written by Oura. Independent studies of patients and older adults are less kind.

The headline number has an origin. Gong’s 2025 review reports ring HRV r² of 0.980.54 That matches Kinnunen 2020, whose first author was affiliated with Oura Health.50 Independently, Liang 2024 found more than half of older participants exceeded a 10% HRV error.52

Joshua Hagen, PhD, faculty director of the Human Performance Collaborative at The Ohio State University, was senior author of the Dial study, which declared no competing interests.5628 Oura Gen 3 and Gen 4 had the highest agreement for overnight HRV and for resting heart rate (resting heart rate CCC 0.97–0.98 against 0.91 for WHOOP 4.0; HRV 0.97–0.99 against 0.94).28

Sleep staging depends on who is sleeping. At Charité Berlin’s Interdisciplinary Center of Sleep Medicine, Ingo Fietze’s team concluded that group-level “agreement masks substantial individual-level inaccuracies, prohibiting their use in clinical sleep medicine”.42 Rebecca Robbins of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, who led the study finding Oura “not different from PSG”, is a member of the Oura Ring Medical Advisory Board.46 The 2025 meta-analysis, with Michele Carr of the University at Buffalo as senior author, found no significant difference on any sleep measure it pooled.43

Daytime is weaker. In Gielen 2026, Oura was among four devices with daytime heart rate error of 9–14 bpm (MAE), against 4.5 bpm for the Fitbit Charge 6.53 Rings are built for nights.

Of the Oura papers cited on this page, seven are Oura-funded or Oura-affiliated, ten are independent of Oura, and one comes from a WHOOP-supported lab.454650475758594342494428515253546048 Our wearable HRV accuracy guide goes deeper.

Has any Oura rival been validated?

Not independently. PubMed lists no validation study of Galaxy Ring, RingConn or Amazfit’s ring, and none of Oura Ring 5. The only Ultrahuman ring paper is by Ultrahuman employees and has no reference standard. Studies of the Circul ring are about a Bodimetrics device, not Circular Ring 2. Every Oura rival is, so far, an unpublished bet.556162

What a PubMed search on 3 November 2026 found:

  • Galaxy Ring, RingConn, Amazfit Helio Ring, Oura Ring 5: no studies. The newest Oura ring studied is Gen 4.28
  • Ultrahuman: one 2026 paper on 442 users, with no ECG or PSG comparison; “All authors are employees of Ultrahuman Healthcare Pvt Ltd.”55
  • Circular Ring 2: none. “Circul” ring papers are about Bodimetrics devices.6162

Cailbhe Doherty, PhD, an associate professor in University College Dublin’s School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science, led a 2024 umbrella review of 24 systematic reviews covering 249 validation studies.6364 It found “approximately 11%” of consumer wearables validated for at least one biometric outcome.64 Leaving Oura means choosing a ring whose accuracy nobody independent has published yet.

Should you trust a single night’s score?

No. One night is noisy for any ring. A 2026 analysis of about 2 million nightly HRV readings found at least five of seven nights were needed to match a full week’s HRV variability. Doherty’s umbrella review found wearables tend to overestimate total sleep, with errors typically above 10%. Watch the weekly trend, not one morning.6564

Read that study with its funding in mind: it was funded by WHOOP, and its first and senior authors work at WHOOP.65

  • Trust total sleep and timing more than minutes of deep or REM sleep.4264
  • Compare a week against your own baseline.
  • Your Oura Readiness history does not carry over to a Galaxy Ring Energy Score or Ultrahuman’s Dynamic Recovery.

Each brand’s score is its own currency. See how Garmin Body Battery, WHOOP Recovery and Oura Readiness are calculated.

Which Oura alternative is best for sleep apnea and blood oxygen?

Apple Watch has sleep apnea notifications on Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later and SE 3, “intended to detect signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea”. Galaxy Ring detects snoring, and Garmin’s Index Sleep Monitor tracks Pulse Ox all night. Published ring oximetry studies cover other devices and do not make consumer rings diagnostic.102631166

The ring oximetry studies on PubMed are about other devices:

  • Circul (Bodimetrics), not Circular Ring 2. In 164 patients, it flagged an apnea-hypopnea index of 15 or more with 76% sensitivity and 100% specificity against PSG.62 Its authors include Bodimetrics scientific advisers.61
  • An unnamed modified ring oximeter. Its desaturation index correlated with PSG at r = 0.87 in 25 patients; Apnimed funded and helped write the study.66
  • Movano Health’s ring. Error (RMSE) of 2.1% in low-oxygen lab tests; all authors work for Movano Health.67

Doherty’s umbrella review put wearables’ blood oxygen error at “up to 2.0%”.64 If you snore loudly or have been told you stop breathing at night, see a clinician.

Is there a ring that works with iPhone and Android?

Yes. Oura and Circular Ring 2 both work with iOS and Android. Samsung Galaxy Ring does not: Samsung requires a Samsung account registered on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and its Energy Score needs a Galaxy AI phone. Among non-ring picks, Fitbit Air, Amazfit Helio Strap and Garmin Cirqa also work on both platforms.24431578

Galaxy Ring is the trap for iPhone owners. If you switch platforms often, Oura and Circular are the safe ring choices.

Which Oura alternative should you buy?

Buy Galaxy Ring if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone. Buy Circular Ring 2 for a no-fee ring with ECG on any phone. Buy Ultrahuman Ring PRO for battery life. Buy Oura Ring 4 on sale to stay with Oura for less. Off the finger, Fitbit Air is cheapest, and Apple Watch Series 12 adds a screen.3451610

The picks below follow the rule stated at the top: three-year required cost, lowest first, rings and then non-ring trackers.

Samsung Galaxy Ring vs Oura: best for Samsung Galaxy phone owners

Against Oura, Galaxy Ring costs $299.99 with no subscription price listed: $308.98 less than Oura Ring 5 over three years. It scores Energy instead of Readiness and lasts up to 7 days in sizes 12 and 13. Oura works on iPhone; Galaxy Ring needs a Samsung Galaxy phone. PubMed has no Galaxy Ring validation study.31224

Sizes run 5 to 15, and a full cradle charge gives up to 14 days away from an outlet.303 A Galaxy Ring 2 has been reported for “early 2027”, not announced.68 Energy Score needs a Galaxy AI phone, and for Galaxy owners it is the cheapest ring we could price over three years.3

Skip it if you use an iPhone, or want peer-reviewed accuracy data: PubMed has none.

Circular Ring 2: best no-fee ring with ECG for iPhone and Android

Circular Ring 2 costs $349 with “No forced subscription”, works on iOS and Android, and adds a single-lead ECG to its PPG, accelerometer and temperature sensors. Battery is up to 7 days, and a portable case recharges it in about 60 minutes. It is sold under a settlement with Oura and is HSA/FSA eligible.422

Circular’s app shows a Readiness score, and returns run 14 days.4 We found no study of Circular Ring 2.

Skip it if you want independent validation or more than a week of battery.

Ultrahuman Ring PRO: best ring for battery life

Ultrahuman Ring PRO costs $479 in the US with “no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data”. It lasts up to 15 days, or 45 with the included PRO charging case, and stores up to 250 days of data on the ring. It is on sale despite a new Oura patent suit filed in October 2026.535

Sizes run 5–14, and “ProRelease Technology” lets the ring be cut safely if your finger swells.5 Ultrahuman Max is optional at $99.99 a year.5 Its only PubMed paper is by its own employees.55

Skip it if you want to avoid a ring under active patent litigation.

Oura Ring 4 on sale: the cheapest way to stay with Oura

Oura Ring 4 starts at $349, with Stealth marked down to $349 from $399 on 3 November 2026. With the $69.99 annual membership, three years cost $558.97, $50 less than Ring 5. You keep Oura’s app and Health Radar, on the newest Oura ring with an independent ECG study.12723128

It is a cheaper way into the membership, not out of it.

Skip it if the subscription is why you are leaving Oura.

Google Fitbit Air: cheapest tracker with a free Readiness score

Fitbit Air costs from $99.99 and measures a Readiness score with only a Google Account and the Google Health app. It lasts up to 7 days, works with Android 11 and iOS 16.4 or higher, and includes 3 months of Google Health Premium, which then renews at $9.99 a month. It ties for cheapest pick.615

Premium plans “start at $9.99 per month or $99 per year” and add Google Health Coach.326 Fitbit Air also “looks out for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib)”.6

Skip it if you want a ring, or will pay for Premium: then three years cost $396.99.632

Amazfit Helio Strap: best budget band with no subscription

Amazfit Helio Strap costs $99.99 with “No required subscription” and was in stock on Amazfit’s US store on 3 November 2026. It lasts up to 10 days, can be worn on the wrist or upper arm, works with iPhone and Android through the Zepp app, and scores recovery as BioCharge.7

It is HSA/FSA eligible and ships “to US & Canada only”.7 We found no published validation.

Skip it if you want a ring form factor.

Garmin Index Sleep Monitor: best for tracking sleep only

Garmin Index Sleep Monitor costs $169.99 and is worn on the upper arm. It tracks sleep stages, HRV status, breathing variations, skin temperature and Body Battery, with up to 7 nights of battery with continuous Pulse Ox. Garmin Connect’s existing features stay free, so no subscription is required.161117

It is the most direct swap if you only ever looked at Oura’s Sleep score.

Skip it if you would rather not add a band just for sleep.

Garmin Cirqa: best screenless band with Training Readiness

Garmin Cirqa costs $199.99, has no screen, and needs no subscription. It tracks Training Readiness, Body Battery, HRV status, sleep score, skin temperature and Pulse Ox, with up to 10 days of battery. You can wear it on the wrist or as an arm band, and it works with iPhone or Android.8

Garmin Connect+ is optional.17 Cirqa has no published validation; Garmin’s Fenix 6 scored 0.87 for HRV in Dial 2025.28

Skip it if you want a ring.

Polar Loop: best for Polar’s Nightly Recharge

Polar Loop costs $199.99 and Polar calls it “a screen-free, subscription-free fitness band”. It lasts up to 8 days and stores 4 weeks of data. Its recovery score, Nightly Recharge, combines your sleep score with heart rate, HRV and breathing data to calculate overnight recovery. Polar also reports a Nightly HRV figure.9

The Loop is unvalidated; the Polar watch in Dial 2025 had the lowest HRV agreement, 0.82.28

Skip it if HRV accuracy is why you bought Oura.

Apple Watch SE 3: cheapest Apple Watch, but no Readiness app

Apple Watch SE 3 costs from $249 and has a sleep score and HRV, but Apple lists its Readiness app as “not applicable”. Battery lasts up to 18 hours, or 32 in Low Power Mode. It does offer sleep apnea notifications. For an iPhone user, it replaces Oura’s sleep tracking, not its morning readiness verdict.182610

Apple Watch is the only device in our Help Center guide that shares HRV with Apple Health.19

Skip it if you want a ring-like battery.

Apple Watch Series 12: best if you want a screen and built-in Readiness

Apple Watch Series 12 costs from $399 and adds a Readiness app: “a single 0-10 score with a clear, actionable recommendation: Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It”. Overnight vitals now include recovery HRV, analyzed against your personal baseline. Battery lasts up to 24 hours, the honest trade-off against a ring’s week or more.1026

Series 12 is untested; Series 9 and Ultra 2 underestimated HRV by 8.31 ms on average in a 2024 study with Doherty as senior author.69

Skip it if you hate charging daily.

WHOOP One: for comparison, it costs more

WHOOP One costs $199 a year with the 5.0 sensor included, so three years cost $597, more than every other pick here and $11.97 less than Oura Ring 5. Peak ($239 a year) and Life ($359) cost $717 and $1,077. WHOOP 5.0 lasts up to 14 days per charge.2025

See our best WHOOP alternatives guide for WHOOP in detail.

Skip it if you want a ring, or want to stop paying a subscription.

Where does Oura still beat its alternatives?

Oura still leads on evidence, size and software. It has more peer-reviewed sleep and HRV validation than any other ring, including independent studies. Ring 5 is 40% smaller than Ring 4 and starts at 2 grams. Oura lists Cycle, Pregnancy and Menopause Insights, Cardiovascular Age and Health Radar. And it works on iOS and Android.43283124

  • The evidence record. Oura is the only ring in this guide with a meta-analysis behind it. Oura’s pooled sleep results showed no significant difference from PSG or actigraphy.43 Its Gen 3 and Gen 4 rings led an independent ECG study of overnight HRV.28
  • Size. Ring 5 is 6.09 mm wide, 2.28 mm thick and from 2 grams.24
  • Women’s health. Oura lists Cycle Insights, Pregnancy Insights and Menopause Insights.24 An independent 2024 study found Oura Gen2 finger temperature showed a pattern indicative of ovulatory cycles in 96 participants.60 A 2023 study by authors who have consulted for Oura found women’s temperature variability did not differ significantly from men’s.57
  • Temperature and vascular age. Two 2026 studies with Michael Chee of the National University of Singapore, a member of Oura’s Medical Advisory Board, as senior author used the ring to time sleep onset from skin temperature and to estimate vascular age (average error 7.25 years).5859
  • Software. Health Radar, AI medical guidance with Counsel Health and GLP-1 Insights for members.31
  • Scale. Oura announced six million paid members on 22 October 2026.70

The case for staying is evidence. The case for leaving is $209.97 of membership over three years.2

Which Oura alternative works best with iPhone and Apple Health?

On iPhone, Apple Watch is the only device in SensAI’s Help Center guide that writes HRV to Apple Health. Oura, Garmin, Polar, Fitbit and WHOOP write sleep, heart rate and workouts, but not HRV. Their proprietary scores never cross, so Readiness, Body Battery and Recovery stay in each brand’s app. Galaxy Ring cannot reach iPhone at all.193

Source: the SensAI Help Center guide, last updated 25 September 2026.19 Samsung Galaxy Ring needs a Samsung Galaxy phone, so it cannot reach an iPhone app.3 Ultrahuman, Circular, RingConn and Amazfit are not covered by the guide, so we don’t list what they write.

The guide also notes that Oura data may not transfer if the app was not opened before midnight, so open it daily.19 And on Gen3 rings and later, Oura’s Apple Health sharing requires an active membership.13

For the field-by-field breakdown, see what Oura, WHOOP and Garmin sync to Apple Health.

What this means if you use a coaching app like SensAI

SensAI reads Apple Health only, so there is no Oura, Garmin or WHOOP account to link. If your ring or band’s iPhone app writes sleep and heart rate to Apple Health, those readings shape how hard Coach asks you to push. HRV reaches SensAI only from Apple Watch, and vendor scores such as Readiness, Body Battery and Recovery never transfer.19

In the Help Center’s words: “Sleep and overnight heart rate from your device shape how hard Coach asks you to push on a given day.”19 SensAI’s HRV tile “will read ‘No recent value’ unless an Apple Watch is providing it”.19

For devices the guide doesn’t cover, the rule is: “Any device whose iPhone app offers an Apple Health switch will work.”19 We don’t list what Ultrahuman, Circular, RingConn or Amazfit write. Galaxy Ring needs a Samsung Galaxy phone, so its data cannot reach an iPhone app like SensAI.3

To check what your device shares and set it up, read how to connect a wearable to SensAI through Apple Health.

Where SensAI falls short

SensAI is not a wearable, so you still need a ring, band or watch. It needs an iPhone on iOS 26 or later, and gets HRV only from Apple Watch. Your vendor score history stays behind, only about 30 days of workouts sync, and after a 7-day free trial it costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.7119

  • It is not a wearable. You still need one of the devices above.
  • Needs an iPhone. SensAI reads Apple Health on your iPhone; the App Store listing requires iOS 26 or later, and Apple Watch requires watchOS 26 or later.7119
  • HRV only from Apple Watch. No ring gives SensAI HRV, Oura included; only an Apple Watch fills SensAI’s HRV tile.19
  • Your score history stays behind. Readiness, Body Battery and Recovery never transfer, so your Oura history doesn’t come with you.19
  • Limited history import. SensAI syncs roughly the last 30 days of Apple Health workouts.19
  • It is a subscription. The App Store listing says “Get full access free for 7 days. No subscription required to start.” After that, SensAI Premium costs $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year.71
  • Few ratings so far. SensAI has 39 US App Store ratings, averaging 4.6.71

Frequently asked questions

These answers cover the questions people ask most about leaving Oura: rings without a subscription, the cheapest alternatives, Samsung Galaxy Ring on iPhone, Ultrahuman and RingConn in the US, Oura without a membership, ring accuracy, and whether an Oura alternative works with SensAI. Every price was checked on 3 November 2026.1219

Is there a ring like Oura without a subscription?

Yes. Circular Ring 2 ($349) has “No forced subscription” and works on iOS and Android. Ultrahuman Ring PRO ($479) has “no recurring subscription fees for accessing your data”. Samsung Galaxy Ring ($299.99) lists no subscription price, but needs a Samsung Galaxy phone. None has independent peer-reviewed validation yet.453

Oura is the ring in this group that needs a membership for its full app.2

What is the cheapest Oura alternative?

Google Fitbit Air and Amazfit Helio Strap, at $99.99 each with no required subscription, are the cheapest non-ring picks. The cheapest ring we could price is Samsung Galaxy Ring at $299.99, for Galaxy phone owners only. On any phone, Circular Ring 2 costs $349. Oura Ring 5 with three years of membership costs $608.97.67342

Garmin’s Index Sleep Monitor ($169.99) is the cheapest option if you only want sleep data.16

Does the Samsung Galaxy Ring work with iPhone?

No. Samsung says “a Samsung account must be registered on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone” to start using Galaxy Ring, and its Energy Score insights require a compatible Samsung Galaxy AI phone. So Galaxy Ring cannot be set up with an iPhone or send data to iPhone apps. On iPhone, consider Oura, Circular Ring 2 or an Apple Watch.3244

Samsung lists Galaxy Ring from $299.99 on its US site.3

Is Ultrahuman banned in the US?

The Ring AIR is: an August 2025 ITC determination led to exclusion orders, and Ultrahuman’s US Ring AIR page returns “Page not found”. The redesigned Ring PRO is on sale in the US at $479. Oura filed a new patent suit over it in October 2026, and Ultrahuman says no court order affects Ring PRO.22535

US Customs approved the PRO’s redesign in March 2026; Oura called that decision “not a final or comprehensive ruling”.38

Is RingConn sold in the US?

RingConn is licensed to sell in the US. It licensed a group of Oura’s patents, and in December 2025 the ITC removed RingConn from its exclusion order and rescinded the cease-and-desist orders against it. We could not load RingConn’s store on 3 November 2026, so we give no price, battery or spec for it.2137

PubMed has no validation study of a RingConn ring.

Does Oura work without a membership?

Partly. Without an active membership, Oura says “you’ll only be able to see your three daily Oura scores (Readiness, Activity, and Sleep), ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, and the Explore content.” You lose the API and, on Gen3 and later, Apple Health sharing. Gen2 rings need no membership.213

The membership costs $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US.2

Is Oura more accurate than other rings?

Oura has the most peer-reviewed validation of any ring, so it is the one you can check. Independent studies found overnight HRV error of 5.96–7.15% against ECG, but weaker sleep staging in patients and older adults. Rival rings have no independent validation on PubMed, so nobody can say they are better or worse.284249

Several of the most favorable Oura studies were Oura-funded or Oura-affiliated.454650

Can I use an Oura alternative with SensAI?

Yes, if its iPhone app writes to Apple Health. SensAI reads Apple Health only, so there is no vendor account to link. Sleep and overnight heart rate from your device shape how hard Coach asks you to push, but HRV reaches SensAI only from Apple Watch. Galaxy Ring needs a Samsung Galaxy phone, so it cannot reach SensAI on iPhone.193

Setup is covered in the Help Center guide linked in the Apple Health section above.

Should you leave Oura for an alternative?

Leave if you mainly use Oura’s three daily scores: Galaxy Ring, Circular Ring 2 or Ultrahuman Ring PRO cost $129.97 to $308.98 less over three years, with no required subscription. Stay if you use the membership features or want a ring with published, partly independent validation. Oura Ring 4 on sale is the cheaper middle path.2345128

A simple test: open the Oura app and count what you look at each week. If it is three numbers, you are paying $69.99 a year for features you skip. If it is cycle insights, Cardiovascular Age and detailed sleep, the membership is doing its job.2

Whichever you choose, treat any morning score as a guide, not an instruction, and judge it over a week rather than a night.6564

And if you want a coach whose daily push follows the sleep and overnight heart rate your device writes to Apple Health, that is what SensAI does on iPhone.19
